This card is for my Mum’s birthday today and I have to say I’m really pleased with it. She loves peach and terracotta both of which I find really hard to work with, but I was determined to make a card with these colours. I’m also pleased to have finally used some of these papers, they were among the first I ever bought for making cards so they’re getting on a bit! The layout is partly based on a card I saw in the current issue of Quick & Crafty and I hand drew and cut the scallop outline. Thanks to my dearest friend Sue for the image which I’ve watercoloured and glittered.

When I saw that the theme on This Thursday was Black is Back I thought ooh, my kind of thing, and decided I would paint a canvas for a change, which is something I’ve never done before. But what to do? I knew I didn’t want to create a ‘picture’ as such but something more abstract, and well, something gothic which is very much my taste. Watching Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd last night gave me just the the inspiration I needed – and so ‘Slash’ was born! If you’re of a nervous disposition, best look away now.

By the way, in case you’re wondering……it is paint! And no, a few sheets of paper doesn’t protect your work surface, bead storage, printer, clothes, face or anything else within a 3ft radius…..
